Expert patent attorneys Virginia Driver and Tom Woodhouse of Page White and Farrer in Leeds presented in an online webinar, AI for Leaders, part of AI Tech North’s Innovation Exchange (IX) and a fringe event of Leeds Digital Festival.
As part of a round table of other AI leaders, Virginia and Tom talked about ‘Crystallising the value of your IP assets’ and how the value of a company’s soft intellectual property assets can diminish over time. They exposed some of the dangers for AI start ups and scale ups who are overly reliant on copyright and trade secrets.
Other speakers included:

- Jamie Hinton, chief executive officier at Razor; and
- Heather Dawe, UK head of data at UST-Global.
The interactive webinar also demonstrated how patents can be used defensively by smaller companies to level the playing field with their larger competitors and help secure a company’s intellectual property assets as it matures and grows.
