Shameena is recognised for her work with the CMS Collaboration.
Congratulations to Page White Farrer Technical Assistant Dr. Shameena Bonomally, who, alongside her colleagues at CERN’s CMS Collaboration, is listed among the 2025 Breakthrough Prize Laureates in Fundamental Physics.
Tom Woodhouse comments:
“Everyone at Page White Farrer is thrilled that Shameena’s pioneering work has been recognised. The Breakthrough Prize Laureate is a prestigious award that recognises individuals who have made profound contributions to human knowledge.”
The CMS Collaboration brings together particle physicists from across the globe to operate and collect data from the Compact Muon Solenoid, one of the general-purpose particle detectors at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. It has been recognised for its precise measurements of Higgs boson properties, to which Shameena contributed significantly during her PhD research. The Collaboration is also praised for discovering new strongly interacting particles, exploring matter-antimatter asymmetry, and pushing the boundaries of our understanding of the universe.
CMS have donated their $1 million prize to the CERN & Society Foundation, to support PhD students from member institutes and allow them to spend research time at CERN.
Congratulations to Shameena and all the prize winners for this incredible achievement.
