Technical Assistant
Ph.D (Manchester) Photon Physics
MPhys (Manchester) Physics
Rachel joined our team in 2024 with a first class degree in Physics from the University of Manchester, and a PhD in Photon Physics.
Her PhD project focussed on investigating carrier dynamics in InGaN/GaN quantum wells. She also completed a postdoctoral research project on the optical characterisation of singly doped colloidal quantum dots. She brings a high standard of scientific communication, having presented her work at multiple conferences as well as authoring publications in the Journal of Physics and Materials for Quantum Technology among others.
Rachel’s background in applied quantum theory, data analysis, and numerical simulation and modelling, together with the high attention to detail demanded by her academic work, make her ideally placed to support emerging technologies.
Even in her initial months with us, she has been able to apply her skills and expertise with focus and precision to inventions in diverse technical fields such as autonomous driving and blockchain.
Areas of focus include:
· photonics and lasers
· spectroscopy
· semiconductor physics
· solid state physics
· quantum physics and quantum structures
· data analysis
